Roman Goddess Diana

Roman Goddess Diana

In this gallery you’ll see nine images of the Roman Goddess Diana in all her glory. They come from the book Costumes of the Ancients by Thomas Hope, which was published in 1875. Diana, a powerful goddess in Roman mythology, ruled over the hunt, wild animals, and the wilderness. Often depicted with a bow and arrows, she was known as a protector of hunters and a skilled archer herself. Her domain extended beyond the hunt though, as Diana was also linked to the moon, crossroads, and childbirth. If you are enjoying these drawings of Diana the Huntress, you’ll also probably enjoy the pages with more Roman Goddesses and the Roman God Jupiter. Have fun!
