Terriers

Terriers

Below are eight lovely drawings of Terriers. They come from the book Dogs, by James L. Cannon, which was published in 1940. There are between 30 and 40 distinct breeds of Terriers depending on the organization. Despite the variation in official numbers, almost all of these breeds share a common heritage. The word “terrier” comes from the Latin word terra (meaning earth), pointing to their original historical purpose: feisty, highly energetic hunting dogs bred to go underground to pursue vermin, foxes, and badgers. This page displays breeds such as the Boston Terrier, the Bull Terrier, and several more. After you’re finished here, you might like visiting the pages with more Terrier Breeds and other Small Dog Breeds. Enjoy!
