Hunting Dogs

In this gallery are ten lovely color illustrations of a variety of Hunting Dogs. You’ll find drawings of a Sussex Spaniel, an Irish Setter, Bloodhounds, and others. They have been restored from the book British Dogs at Work. It was written in 1906 by A. Croxton Smith and illustrated by G. Vernon Stokes. Hunting dogs have served as invaluable partners to humans for millennia, developed through centuries of selective breeding to assist in tracking, flushing, and retrieving game. Far more than just skilled companions in the field, these diverse breeds possess a unique combination of intelligence, athletic endurance, and an intense drive to work. Their remarkable instincts and deep bond with their handlers make them both exceptional sporting partners and deeply loyal family members.
