Robin Hood Story

Robin Hood Story

Here you will discover nine lovely color images taken from the Robin Hood Story. They are from the book Bold Robin and his Forest Rangers published in 1905. It was written by Caroline Brown and illustrate by F. I. Bennett. Historically and traditionally, Robin Hood wears Lincoln Green, a specific shade of dyed wool cloth produced in the town of Lincoln during the Middle Ages. As a fugitive and outlaw living in the Sherwood Forest, wearing green provided camouflage among the trees and foliage, allowing Robin and his Merry Men to hide from the Sheriff of Nottingham’s men and hunt deer without being easily spotted. In medieval folklore, the color green was closely linked to nature and spirits. By wearing green, Robin Hood was symbolically identified as a guardian of the forest and a person who existed outside the “civilized” laws of the city or the church.
