Hounds

On this page you’ll find fourteen lovely color images of a variety of Hounds such as Greyhounds, Welsh Hounds, Harriers, Beagles, and more. They were illustrated by Arthur Wardle for the book A History and Description of the Modern Dogs of Great Britains and Ireland: Sporting Division. It was written by Rawdon Briggs Lee in 1897. Hound dogs are a specialized group of hunting dogs renowned for their powerful senses and extraordinary endurance. Beyond their working capabilities, hounds are widely cherished as household companions for their affectionate nature, distinctive vocalizations (such as baying), and gentle, easygoing personalities.
