Tarot Cards Tarot Deck

Tarot Cards / Tarot Deck

On this page are twenty-two images of the Tarot Cards / Tarot Deck that makes up the Major Arcana of the Tarot of Marseille, one of the oldest and most influential tarot decks. It originated in France in the 16th and 17th centuries and is known for its bold woodcut-style imagery. These illustrations come from the book Les Cartes à Jouer du XIV au XX Siècle (Playing Cards from the 14th to the 20th Century) written by Henry-René D’Allemagne in 1906.

The Tarot of Marseille has deep historical ties to early European cartomancy and occult traditions and played a major role in the development of modern tarot. You can click on a thumbnail image to find the French and English name for each card.
