Roman Army Costumes 2
Left to Right: The ivory hilt of a Celtiberian sword. / The phaleratus; this one is a military tribune of the army of the Rhine, restored after a tomb stone. He wears Femoralia, short breeches imitated from Gallic breeches. These breeches were especially adopted by the troops campaigning in the northern climate. They were also worn by officers of all ranks and even by the emperor. / Peronifciation of Rome. A helmet made from the head of a horned animal whose skin serves as a neck covering; this figure seems to recall the origins of Rome.
