Drawings of Fish
On this page are eighteen stunning Drawings of Fish in bold and beautiful colors. They come from the book Poissons, Ecrevisses et Crabes…, which was written by Mr. Louis Renard in 1754. Translations from the original French and other languages are taken from Fishes, Crayfishes and Crabs: Louis Renard’s Natural History of the Rarest Curiosities of the Seas of the Indies authored by Professor Theodore W. Pietsch in 1995. Included are images of the Five-fingered Wrasse, the Blue-girdled Angelfish, a Peacock Grouper, and others. In each description, I’ve written the original name of the creature as given in Renard’s book, and the translated, accepted, and common names given in Pietsch’s edition.
