Celestial Beings

Celestial Beings

On this page are twelve black and white images of various Celestial Beings. They are primarily from the book Fictitious and Symbolic Creatures in Art, written by John Vinycomb in 1906. There are drawings of St. John, the Lion of Saint Mark, cherubs, a seraph, and a teramorph, among others. Vinycomb writes that the idea of adding wings to the human form has existed from remote antiquity. If you enjoy these illustrations of angelic creatures, you may want to visit the galleries with Clip Art of Angels or other Mythical Creatures. Have fun!
