Carthage Wars

They encompassed a series of three major conflicts fought between the powerful North African city of Carthage and the rising Republic of Rome between 264 BC and 146 BC. These wars were driven by competition for control over trade and territory across the western Mediterranean. The first war centered on Sicily, the second featured the brilliant Carthaginian general Hannibal, who famously crossed the Alps into Italy, and the third ended with the destruction of Carthage itself. Together, the Carthage Wars marked Rome’s transformation from a regional power into a dominant empire.
