King Arthur
In this gallery you will discover twenty-one beautiful color images for the legends of the great King Arthur. They are from the book Stories of King Arther, retold by Blanche Winder, circa 1925. The illustrations were done by Harry G. Theaker. There are drawings of Merlin, Guinevere, Arthur, the Lady of the Lake, and more. In the preface to her book, Winder writes “King Arthur was the hero-chief of ancient Britain, about whom stories were told and songs were sung from the fifth century to the fifteenth, when Sir Thomas Malory wrote his great book La Morte D’Arthur. But Malory’s book does not contain all the tales; and many of those related in this volume are taken directly from other and earlier sources.” If you like this artwork on King Arthur, make sure to visit the page on The Round Table Knights, which has more images from this book, and also Knights of King Arthur’s Round Table.
