English Folklore

Below are twelve amazing black and white images for three different stories from English Folklore. First of all we have “William of Cloudeslee” (aka Cloudsley), illustrated by Patten Wilson and Byam Shaw. Next we have Patten Wilson illustrating the story of “King Horn.” And finally we have drawings for the folktale of “Hereward the Wake,” drawn by Gertrude Demain Hammond. These are from the book Hero-Myths and Legends of the British Race by M.I. Ebbutt, which was published around 1910. If you like these pictures of English Folklore, you might want to check out the pages with images for English Legends or The Song of Roland that are from the same book. Have fun!
