Sometimes I need a kick in the pants to get my creative juices flowing. Here are some of the places online where I like to go when I need some art inspiration. Updated 12/1/15.

  • Jonathan Talbot: Words of Wisdom ~ Inspiring comments made by this great collage artist.
  • Art Quotations ~ The largest source of quotes by artists and about art. You browse through over 373 categories.
  • Art Encyclopedia ~ Learn about artists and periods of art throughout history.
  • Color Schemer ~ Online color scheme generator.
  • Art Biz Coach ~ Allyson Stanfield talks about the business of art.
  • Duirwaigh Studios ~ The site hasn’t been updated in a while, but their portfolio of art work will take your breath away! And be sure to check out their art studio!
  • Artists Inspire Artists – artists submit photographs of their art and talk about it or others submit photos and discuss artists they find inspiring. You can browse by category. There’s a lot of amazing stuff to look at.
  • Artists’ Network ~ Lots of tutorials and ideas for all different kinds of art techniques
  • Colossal ~ Each week 15-25 posts on photography, design, animation, painting, installation art, architecture, drawing, and street art are added to the site. Dedicated to the belief that there is amazing creativity all around us.
  • House Beautiful – Design Inspiration ~ Inspiring collection of a wide variety of arts, crafts, design, and more.
  • Color Combo’s Combo Library ~ This is a fun tool that lets you enter a color name or hex code and then provides a variety of color swatches that complement your color.
  • FontPair ~ Look at suggested pairings of fonts.
  • Creativity Portal ~ Lots  of articles about growing creatively as a writer and artist, as well as fun project tips and tutorials.
