Mixed Media Collage ~ Woman’s Ideal of Man #1

A chapter from a book from 1901 called The Perfect Woman inspired this collage. You’ll find vintage text and images of men, beasts, and machinery. They gently satirize the author’s view of men during that period of time. The canvas surface is highly textured. There are layers of gesso and discarded burlap and interesting paper fragments. I used glazes of Quinacridone gold and napthol red to produce the bold, rich colors.
