Edwardian Clothes

Below you will find fifteen black and white illustrations of Edwardian Clothes from the early 1900’s. There are several designs of jackets, coats, and the ladies’ shirt-waist. The Shirt-Waist was a type of button-down blouse usually made from cotton or linen. They were originally designed as a more comfortable and practical alternative to the corsets and heavy dresses that were popular at the time. They were also seen as a symbol of women’s liberation, as they allowed women to move more freely and express their individuality. The drawings found here are from two editions of the New Idea Woman’s Magazine published in 1906 and 1907.
